Penny Blue Single Cask #28 is rum from a single cask. This cask was selected for its exceptional quality from within the Medine Distillery reserves by Master Distiller Jean-Francois Koenig.

Rare, with only 197 bottles released, Penny Blue Single Cask is truly special. Penny Blue Single Cask is non-chillfiltered and natural in colour.

Tasting notes

  • ABV: 45%
  • Colour: Deep amber.
  • Nose: Deep and inviting with tropical fruit, vanilla, toffee and sandalwood. Complex with zesty citrus.
  • Palate: Luxuriant and creamy textured with vanilla, spice and balanced oak tannins.

VSOP

Penny Blue VSOP is Medine Distillery’s first VSOP release. Made from the finest Single Estate sugar cane, VSOP is aged in ex Cognac, Bourbon and Whisky barrels before being blended by Master Distiller Jean-Francois Koenig and Doug McIvor from Berry Bros & Rudd.

The VSOP retains the characteristic complexity of Penny Blue rums, but is more approachable than the award winning Penny Blue XO and Single Cask releases. Fruity and complex, VSOP can be enjoyed neat or as part of rum cocktails.

  • ABV: 40%
  • Colour: Deep and enticing amber.
  • Nose: Marmalade, melon skin and cloves.
  • Palate: Soft and luxuriant with hints of glazed fruits, cedar wood and spices.

  • A blend of 75% ex Cognac, 15% ex Bourbon and 10% ex Whisky casks.
  • Aged for a minimum of 4 years.
  • Awarded Gold Medal – Concours de Bruxelles Mondial, Spirits Selection.

Created in small batches, each one with its own personality, Penny Blue rum is matured on the estate and is, by definition, rare and finite. Every batch is unique although there is continuity in overall style to retain the rich, smooth, fruity complexity that makes this single estate Rum a real expression of its Mauritian terroir.

  • Nose: Beautifully balanced with intense ripe tropical fruit, treacle toffee and delicate wood spice.
  • Palate: Rich and round with swelling fruitiness and balancing grip from the oak. Distinguished, sophisticated and complex.

  • Matured in ex Whisky (58%), ex Cognac (36.4%) and ex Sherry (5.6%) casks.

  • Nose: Honeyed, full fruitiness and delicate spice.
  • Palate: Bright and rich with concentrated burnt orange, passion fruit and spice. Playfully fruity, with balancing tannins and spicy outcrops.

  • Palate: Beautifully integrated with a graceful honeyed texture. Citrus fruitiness weaves a path through soft vanilla.
